When you are "Party Bots" you see so many miracles!

This week we started fresh looking for all new investigators! We literally had no one to teach at the beginning of the week. I never thought "oh no we aren’t going to find anyone" My only thought was "This street will have the elect" Positive thinking...its key! Of course not every house wants to hear the Gospel...you have to go through a lot of them to find the golden one. Then we found Alex. We ended up doing "How to Begin Teaching" in his drive way. And I was thinking I’m not leaving without inviting him to baptism. So I started the invite and looked at my companion, Sister Becker to get the "I was thinking the same thing" look and continued. He said yes!!!!!!!! And then he said he would come to Noite de Integração! Then we talked to Mauricia (she was a street contact from last week) and she said that she would try to get her friend and her husband to go to Noite de Integração too. We didn’t get to teach her because her husband wasn’t there...butthat’s ok we will this week. We ended up having 7 investigators at Noite de Integração...and some of the members helped us with rides! It was an awesome night! And they all really liked it!

In the end we lost 3 of the 7 because they were super mole (not really interested) and now we are down to 4 solid investigators! They are all pretty much knee deep in water :)

OhI get to stay in Jag for another transfer!!!!! I was so nervous when we got our transfer news because I really love my area! It’s sorta weird because my companion, Sister Becker goes home tonight....she’s finished with her mission!! I’m glad I still have a year left!! holla!!!

Last thing...it’s getting pretty cold here...I had two cardigans and my wind breaker on the other night....ughhhhhI thought it was supposed to be hot here!!!!

Scripture of the week:

Acts 18:9-11  oh, how I love when you read a scripture that is just perfect for your life!!

9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

Te amo!!

Exploding Toilets and Party Bots

Week 27

A lot of crazy things happened this week.... first off one day when we were walking out in the rain...I slipped off the side walk and twisted my ankle...I freaked out for like a few seconds and then we kept walking...we ended up going home to grab something before we went to lunch. Then I looked at my ankle and it was HUGE!!! So I taped it up and we went to lunch. Irmão Anderson gave me some spray to help the swelling and we ended up not working all day. By this time my ankle was hurting super bad and it looked like it was growing by the minute! So I said a quick little prayer and kept on icing it and keeping it elevated. The next morning it was purple and still swollen...but it didn’t hurt as bad. So I decided to work. The rest of the week I refused to stay home but once we got home I iced and elevated it. Heavenly Father really does look after us missionaries!Because although it’s a little swollen I’m still able to go out and do work! :)

So now that my mom is probably freaking out about the last story...here is something that will make all you guys laugh super-duper hard! On Sunday we went to eat lunch at Irmão Laura´s. I used their bathroom, which was supposed to be normal...First I asked for toilet paper...that’s always sorta weird. Then I flushed the toilet and it literally exploded!!!! Water just gushed out and didn’t stop for like  2 minutes....I just stood there with my mouth open wide as the bathroom flooded with water....haha I couldn’t move I was so shocked! After panicking for 5 minutes I went and got my companion, Sister Becker and she lost it and would not stop laughing at me! I made her tell Irmão Laura and she was like "oh, that’s normal. What the heck no!!!!!!! Haha,  yeah I was sooooooo embarrassed! And now I’m scared to use the bathroom anywhere other than my house!

don’t know why but some missionaries think that if you obey every single rule you are a robot and you don’t have fun. My comp pretty much called me a lame robot because I wanted to be more obedient. But then I explained to her that as we strive to be more obedient we will see more miracles and receive more blessings. When you follow all the commandments and all the rules of the mission...you are way happier! So I whipped out a few scriptures to get her to see my point of view and finally she came around...she now calls us "Party Robots" ha which is a good start. Our Scripture of this week is Mosiah 2:41 and we are going to try our hardest to follow every rule and commandment to be more worthy to receiveblessings and have the Spirit, and have more success! I know this week will be so, so awesome!!! :)

Obedience is the key to happiness!!!! :)

You know what? Missionary work is really, really hard. You are always worried about other people, whether they arereading the Book of Mormon, coming to church, and keeping other compromissos. You are pretty much holding their eternal salvation in your hands. You get stressed, frustrated, and overwhelmed. You cry when they aren´t doing the things they need to be doing to receive a testimony and answers, because you know that this gospel will bring them the happiness and peace they are looking for. People say that as a disciple of Christ you are going to feel a little of what He felt while He was here on the earth....the crazy thing, a little is a lot for us. This morning I cried with my comp, because wehaven’t seen anything good come from our labors; and we´ve been working really, really hard. We keep trying to think of new ways to work better and smarter, but everything we try just doesn’t work. We try to stay positive and see the good in everything. But after a while it gets really hard; it’s like, what more can we do?! Maybe we need to start giving this work our all...like whole being! We probably need to be even more positive, and like my dad said...positive in our hearts, not just positive in our smiles. This week we are ready to find the elect. We are ready to do whatever we have to do. And our plan is to start over, clean and fresh. We are going to trust Heavenly Father and his plan for the people that we will work with. And we are going to slay this week!!

FIQUE FELIZ AND FORTE!

(Ruben’s note: Another week of soccer interrupting missionary work!)

In reality every week is a good week. It’s just that some weeks are really awesome, things happen; other weeks are normal with no big news. So in other words this week was a good normal week. Just a lot of menos ativosand batando portas (knocking, or better said, clapping at doors)!

I’m no longer sick!!! Yay! and Sister Pontes and I have started doing Insanity (exercise routine) at 6 in the morning!

Life is good down here in Brasil! And I love being a missionary!

Gentes...te amo!!!!

Ruben note: The FIFA Soccer Copa Mundial Tournament is having a toll on missionary work because missionaries have to stay inside most of the time on game days! Unfortunately, Robyn’s letters are very short for lack of activity!

Nothing much happened this week. Seriously...the game and some holiday and a zone meeting made it impossible to work this week. But we did have a super awesome baptism! Alberto e Ariane! They are the cutest family ever! They already started talking about getting sealed in the temple and when their little baby will serve a mission!! Yeah, they are perfect!! Other than that things are good...we are working a lot with menos ativos and finding new investigators. This coming week should be better!! And hopefully I’ll get rid of this cold!!
